In today’s fast-paced, run and gun, get-ahead kind of world fatigue is an all too real reality for many adults. Do you normally feel tired, lethargic, or unenergetic? Do you constantly wonder why you don’t feel like you’re even close to 80%? You’re not alone, because many people feel the exact same way. Little do you know that your daily routine may actually be forcing you to a place of exhaustion.

Sometimes the reasons for your fatigue are easy to identify. Ask yourself these three questions:

WHAT TIME DO YOU GO TO BED?

WHEN DO YOU WAKE UP?

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

These questions may seem very elementary. However, the answer is that you may simply need to sleep more, eat healthier, and exercise more. This goes beyond identifying a medical issue and centers on lifestyle choices as being more important to overall health.

DETERMINE YOUR PRIORITIES

One of the first things you should do is to determine your priorities. It’s helpful to take a step back and really analyze your life. If you always feel like you can barely juggle all of your priorities, you may be putting yourself under unneeded stress. Some people can plan and achieve a goal in a few weeks or months, but for many, this isn’t possible. The first thing to do is reassess your priorities and make sure you’re not setting unrealistic goals for yourself. Take a good look at your priorities, how important they are to you, and make a plan of action. Maybe you could use some organizational coaching, find an after school program for the kids, or find a way to get yourself some much needed alone time. Make time to take care of yourself, because time will never be made for you.
